Default Calculating 190 hours Part 141

Hello

I need some advice regarding the 190 hours under FAR Part 141.
How do I calculate the hours?
I've heard that I can do the checkride only after 190 hours if I've done the PPL and IFR after 35 hours each. E.g.:
35 HOURS PPL
35 HOURS IFR
and regarding to my flight school I then need 120 HOURS CPL

But now I've needed more than 35 hours for my PPL and for my IFR:
50 HOURS PPL
50 HOURS IFR

then taking the 120 HOURS CPL would mean that I can take the checkride at 220HOURS (earliest) and not at 190HOURS.

Can anybody confirm this? Every flightschool is writing about 190 hours ... but seems to be the minimum.

I looked it up in the FAR and called AOPA but couldn't get a total conclusion.
Can you help me out?

Bryan

I believe the 190 hours is total time in the course(s). There is a minimum number of hours you have to have in just the commercial course (90 hours I think).

Yes, the 190 hour commercial pilot thing is assuming that you can complete both your private and instrument in 35 hours a piece. I'd wager that you'll not find anyone who could do it even close to those times. at least 50 hours per rating is a better idea. Speaking for myself I had them both done at 97 TT and change; that's probably a more reasonable timeframe.

So, once you've done that, assuming you're in a flight school that uses a 120 hour syllabus for your commercial program you could be done with your commercial at 220 TT. Also, the syllabus at my school also has a ME component so I will have both my CSEL and CMEL done in the neighborhood of 230 hours TT.

Keep in mind this is all under Pt 141; under Pt 61 you need 250 TT to complete your commercial.

Hope this helps.

Okay, well, for me, I got both the PPL, and IA in 90.1 hours.

My school uses a 120 hour CPL syllabus. 65 hours Multi, 55 hours single. So, if my math is right. . . the earliest I could do the CMEL, CSEL addon ride is at 210.1

Right? Since I exceeded the 190 hour requirement, and met the 120 hour CPL training. . .just want to make sure that I understand it correctly.

That's really good.

Theoretically, yes. Remember, it's 120 hours as part of the syllabus. Any hours outside the syllabus (i.e. a pleasure flight, taking some friends up for a ride) don't count.

Just to get it straight, there is no 190 hour requirement. 190 hours is just the number some marketing guru decides on when they add 35 + 35 + 120. I'd be VERY impressed to see someone who actually got it done that that amount of time. The REQUIREMENT is 120 hours in a FAA approved Pt 141 syllabus.
