| Well, I am happy to tell you all that I finally got instrument rated~ So, this is what happened; My oral was primary focused on the IFR cross country that I had to make. The examiner asked me why/how I chose the route. The exmainer wanted to know the thought process behind my decisions. I talked about MEA, MOCA, MRA, MSA, etc. I was asked questions regarding FAR's with particular interest to the required instrument for IFR and whether or not the plane I was fly had those equipment. Oh, and I was asked a lot of questions on instrument approach plates, meaning clearance and things like what would you do if your gyro system goes out/how would you know that it is out/what would do say to the ATC?/where would you fly to? and of course my favorite ....weather...lots and lots of weather....it took about 2 hours of the oral and then we were off to fly. the flying part was very straight foward. Take off, fly to an intersection, manuevers, unusual attitude, ILS, VOR-A, LOC. and that was it. It sucked that the examiner's push-to talk was broken and I had to communicate with the ATC the whole time. She said she was sorry and that I did a good job. I felt that it was a good practice for me so it was cool. so, after landing and taxing the plane to parking the examiner shook my hand and said congratulations, you did a nice job. and I had a moment of silence with my cigarette in my hand just enjoying the moment. ![]() thanks to all you guys for your help and Omar for his inspirational narrative. |
