I must be crazy

As a career changer with all the airline shutdowns and layoffs I must be crazy. I am still a few years away from being qualified for the regionals or freight work as I am taking the part 61 route with the local FBO and just getting ready to start my Instrument training.
I just hope the economy and the airlines rebound.

I just want to know are there any other possible career changers out there teetering on the fence as to rather or not to go for it?

If you're crazy...welcome to the nuthouse. There are a lot of career changers on here who question ourselves. But I sleep easy knowing that the industry is cyclical. By the time you are ready to apply it could be a whole different game...good or bad. If you want to fly though, you've got to do it. So yeah, I teetered on the fence, but i hated my job (even though i still work part time). I'm much happier now that I've stopped teetering and made the decision to go after it. That being said, I'm glad I have a career in a different industry to fall back on should I ever need to. Call me overly optimistic, but people aren't going to stop flying altogether, and there will be work to be had.

I see you're in UT, where are you doing your training?...just curious.

I got my ppl years ago with a company called Great Western Aviation (they are now gone). I am now going to train with Leading Edge Aviation.

I guess I would rather be crazy and spend time with other nuts than miserable and spend my day in a job I can’t stand.
There must be satisfaction out of doing what you love even if at times it is a struggle to make all the pieces come together.
