Default Is there work flying or not?

Greetings. I'm new here but have read over some of the threads about people interested in becoming pilots. The posts have been honest and reasonable, but I feel somewhat discouraged now.

I'm 23yrs old with no previous flight background. I work in my family construction company but have been doing some soul searching for a few years and I'm really considering taking the 141 course at a community college near a small flight school.

There is a love interest in my life for a few years now and marriage has been coming up a lot in my thoughts.

How reasonable is it to be looking into flying for my job/career? How quickly can I get my pilot license (not private license) if I devote all of my time to it? Is there work in the field? If a commercial airliner is less likely to hire me with nothing on my resume, is there other work flying?

Complete newbie here. Any thoughts or tips would greatly be appreciated. Thank you!

There is always work flying. As a complete newb, I'd suggest you read the home page of this site from front to back. There is always work. You could get your ratings through CFI and from there on, CFI jobs aren't hard to come by. It's a matter of where you're willing to live and how much you need to make. As you gain experience and work your way up other opportunities will present themselves. There is 135 freight or the regionals, after you CFI, and maybe corporate or a third tier large jet operator after that. It just depends on the sacrifices you are willing to make.

It's almost like reading my past. When I was 23 I was totally lost, very close to marriage and started some aviation courses at a C.C.
From day one chick didn't support me even though it was like I had finally found something that seemed meant for me. I had to do some serious soul searching. I had no idea what the aviation community had to offer but I knew that if I didn't pursue my dream I would Always regret it. My relationship with my gf deteriorated. She gave me an ultimatum-her or flying...
I went to flight school two weeks later got my ratings in about 1.5 (PPL through MEI) years while pumping gas at the flight school and haven't looked back since. I make damn good money hauling some plastic bags and boxes M-F, home every night, stable life, have had the opportunity to work outside the U.S. and have made some good (and notsogood) friends along the way.

Remember-there is MORE to aviation than Regionals! Live your dreams and never regret your mistakes. You only get one shot at life, don't live it in a race with others.
