| Senior Member | So here it comes... I'm 30, I had originally thought about changing careers a few years ago, but after spending some time on this site, the general opinion was not favorable given the nature of the industry at that time, and my personal circumstances during that same period. I wish I had done it then but felt like general opinion knew best. Its been a few years, I have been unhappy with my decision this whole time and have really learned what my priorities in life are. Also due to a death and another family issue my own career field has somewhat left me behind and I am having to start out nearly from scratch. Having said that I have made the decision to switch careers. I have a lot of work ahead of me, and this includes getting my degree. I would like to know if it is possible to attend UVSC online prior to going through flight training. This is because I will not qualify for a loan and I will need to work for a couple years to save the money to pay it in cash. I would like to at least start school immediately. If anyone has any other ideas, feedback, suggestions, or anything else they can share I would really appreciate it. |

| I could be wrong about this, but I think you can do the UVSC thing without actually being in flight training. But - it might defeat the purpose. There are several things I'm still grey about - but one important thing I found out about with UVSC is that if you are enrolled with a UT based flight school, the tuition drops down to that of a UT resident. Which could be significant in helping you save for the flight training. Regardless of what you choose - follow your heart. I'm in the middle of the career change right now, and you wouldn't believe the number of people (small town living!) that are my age and older who come up to me and say "I wish I would have done "_____" back when I wanted to make that change, but now I'm too old." etc etc etc.
