Default Need to be flying to get a job?

Do you think a pilot needs to be actively flying (instructing, po-dunk cargo, etc.) to get a job with regional, corp. or charter?
Just wondering what my chances are of getting a flying job if I'm not flying at a job. Know what I mean??

nope, I do it parttime and had interview offers and a job offer at a 121 carrier. It can be done but you have to study hard and prepare for the 121 environment.

You must have "recent flight experience" to be accepted at NetJets. Even if you are a 20,000 hour furloughee.

what does recent flight experience mean? is there a set amount of hours in a certain amount of months? not trying to attack but the thought has crossed my mind as well.

I don't know if there are specific minimums, but I would think basic currency would be a start.

As far as I know, most airlines want something like 50hr in the past 12 month.

Typically 100hrs in the previous 6 months is what I've found.

I wasn't actively flying for about 3 months when I got hired. Luckily the last month I flew I flew quite a bit and was able to meet the 100hrs in 6 months.

For me I hadn't flown an airplane in almost 4 months when I took my first flight on IOE. Yipes!! But just like riding a bike, I didn't lag behind much.
