| Hey Guys, I have been reading posts on this site for some time now and am in need of some advice. Here's some background information: I got into aviation over a decade ago with dreams of someday flying for an airline. I got my CPL, IR, ME and CFI but jobs were very difficult to come by so I switched to IT. I am currently 32 years old and make a good living with my IT salary, with a wife and a mortgage but still dream of someday flying for an airline. I have kept in touch with aviation by instructing part time off and on at a local flying school and occasionally flying for pleasure. I have a little over 500TT and about 25 ME with a Masters Degree in Information Systems. I am thinking of taking the plunge and pursuing my aviation career where I left off. I have been presented with a couple of overseas opportunities; to fly CRJs or Boeing 737s in India. The CRJ training would take about 4 months while the B737 training would take upto a year. I was thinking of flying there for a few years to be able to build up enough time to apply to an airline in the US. Till I get online, both jobs would pay me peanuts so I would like to get online ASAP unless the type of aircraft will make a difference in landing a job here (i.e. CRJ 200 time versus B 737 time). Another thought I had was of buying some bulk ME time and applying to a Regional but I am sceptical about this because I would just meet the minimums at that point after spending a lot of money. Any recommendations? Thanks. |
