| My palms just began to sweat before I started typing this. I guess it's probably due to my intense love for aviation. Yes it was a very long time ago that I wanted to do it and I still remember my childhood friend saying "hey if you want to become a pilot you can only play with us for 2 hours" or pretending to push bottoms riding in my dad's old vw bug. I came to America about 7 years ago, and I just began researching like crazy, and somewhere along I found Jetcareers. Before I go on I would like to thank Doug and many many many others who have answered my questions. Thank you all. I am a college student (junior) majoring in Interdesciplinary Humanities and will be graduating in the spring of next year. I wanted to fly so bad that I didn't care of what degree I should take. I just chose the easiest sounding one so that I can concentrate more on flying. Sounds like a dumb plan now but who knew! It wasn't, because it turned out to be great, I love my courses and I am certainly glad I am nearing my graduation. I wanted to start flying in a couple of months, but due to some reasons that I simply cannot explain, it's just not going to happen in the forseable future. Yes, it may happen, but just not now. I have been waiting for this for too long, and I feel that hoping and just waiting is not a good plan. I should face the reality. The reality is that I cannot fly this summer and the more I think about it the more I become less motivated in school or work etc. I am going to take a break from aviation. I will probably teach after I got my bachelor's degree and see how it goes. I have to make up my mind. It is sad that I should say goodbye to aviation, but I surely hope it won't be for long. Thank you again jetcareers.

| Senior Member | Teaching isn't a bad way to pay for flight training. I've been doing that it for a year and a half and am finishing my multi commercial, about to move on to CFI. It's been a bit slower than the "drop everything, take out a 45K loan and fly" method, but debt sucks and I'd rather have enough $ to enjoy life when I do make flying my career. Plus, you get "real world" experience and you build a "back up" resume. |
