Talking Hello and quick question from newb . . .

Greetings and salutation worthy followers of Jetcarrers . . . . .

. . .This is the first post by an aspiring pilot, so please be easy on me . .I am a British citizen who will soon start his flight training in the US, and I will train through the FAA for a CPL, and eventially an ATPL . . .My ultimate goal is to work in Europe/Britain and the world . . .

. . . . Now here is where I am getting conflicting messages . . .British pilots tell me that employment prospects in Britain /Europe with an FAA qualification are mediocre and you could not build a meaningful carreer with N registered planes . . . .

. . . . . . . .US pilots however, build a picture quite opposite, stressng that the N register is increasing and FAA rated pilots are in demand, and steady employment is to be obtained in Europe and the world . . .

. . . . Is this merely a question of British snobbishness versus American optimism, or is the truth somewhere in between . . .What kind of prospects would a freshly qualified FAA CPL holder face!

. .Anyway . . .I took the plunge, and I'm sure it would be better than working in an office . . .

. . .Thank you for reading my first post and I look forward to hearing from you!

Sometimes I wish I was asian, then I could go to an asian airline academy with 0 time, be paid to train, and have a job waiting for me.
But then again, I would most likely have a small weenie. (smaller than it is now anyways )

But to answer your question, I don't know.
Wayne Rooney is a dumb punk.

OK, but anyways, I always heard the U.S. is better for flight training. Cheaper, better weather, better looking girls, and we're yanks for crying out loud- we rock.
Orville and Wilbur Wright = yanks
Jimmy Doolittle = yank
Charles Lindbergh = yank
Chuck Yeager = yank
The Red Baron = yank

My very first visitor to Jetcareer, Iain Holmes, aka I_Money is a Brit that was interested in an aviation career as well before he moved on to other ventures. You might want to drop him a private message!

as for the orignal poster...from what I've seen transferring US credentials to ICAO credentials can be a tough road. As for N numbered planes in europe I've honestly never seen a job post for a pilot to live in Europe and fly N numbered planes(mainly UAE), so I'd have to say networking is key for that.

As for the actual training it is much cheaper and probably easier to accomplish here.

Manfred von Richthofen was born in Schweidnitz, Germany in 1882

so not a yank....unless i'm confused with what a "yank" is.

Yank = Yankee = American.

At least as far as I know!

A Yankee is also supposed to be a 'slight' someone says about you when you get upset that it's taking 45 minutes to make a latte in Georgia!

Next time just wink at the monitor as you type. We'll figure it out that way.

Actually I had the same reaction when I first started posting here. I'd say something pretty darn punny and people would just go What The Frick? Now they just ignore me, so I've got that going for me....

p.s., the spelling police called, and it's "ridiculous".
