Hello everyone. Quick question. I already have a bachelor's degree unrelated to aviation, but want to go to flight school and have a career in aviation. I have been looking at schools and am wondering if anyone has opinions on the difference between a 2-year community college program and a private flight school that would be quicker? Thanks. |

I already have a bachelor's degree unrelated to aviation, but want to go to flight school and have a career in aviation. Good job congrats!!! Unrelated to aviation, even better. Give us some more details. Do you have a job? Are you planning on borrowing or paying for your flight training? Quickest way undoubtedly is, go to a private flight school. After all come on, you worked hard on your bachelors so you can easily forget about going to a community college, plus, in the long run, you will be more competitive because of your degree. |

Private flight school without question.

I have a degree in Biology. I am working now, but not making the money I would expect after four years of college. I have enough money saved up to pay for 75% of flight training. I think I could pay the rest off with a job while doing the training. Do you guys have any recommendations on private schools, there doesn't seem to be a lot of information out there on picking one school over the other. Thanks.

"there doesn't seem to be a lot of information out there on picking one school over the other" Well, unless you want to move, you'll need to find a school near you. That kinda narrows it down. Look for a good combination of cost/quality. You don't need fancy new planes but the cheapest isn't always the best value, either. |

Thanks for the help so far. One thing I am wondering about is that I have been getting advise on looking for a accelerated curriculum from a private flight school. The community colleges I have looked at offer a two year program from no aviation experience to CFI2. Is it possible to go from nothing to CFI faster than that.
