| Hey guys, I'm on the fence on this, but there's a decent chance I'll be moving to Dallas in the fall. I'm at ~650hrs now, 10multi (Be-76), CFI, CFII. I'll probably look for a freight gig when I hit 1200 hours, but I'm not in a massive rush to get there. I don't need fancy glass cockpit airplanes. I want respectable pay. Some multi time would be nice, but not completely necessary (I'd get my MEI if I found the right place). I'll be living just northwest of DFW airport in Grapevine, and would be willing to commute an hourish depending on how pain in the ass it is with traffic. Any suggestions? The only schools I've really looked at are Skymates and Marcair, and I have no clue what either pay their instructors. - Mike

| Junior Member | Well, you should be able to walk into just about any flight school in the DFW area and get yourself a job. Are you looking for full or part-time work? I work out of Grand Prairie just a hop, skip, jump from Skymates in Arlington. I believe there are two small but very good flight schools located at Northwest Regional. That's a tiny field just Northwest off Grapevine. I'm in about the same boat as you 620TT/20ME. What brings you to DFW? -Brett |

| Full time. Marcair is located at 52F (NW regional). Unfortunately the last time I checked they had no twins and no instrument approaches. It would be nice to be somewhere with an ILS approach. I grew up in Southlake/Grapevine. I'm graduating from UT in a few weeks and need to go back to the land of free rent/food (parents').

![]() Welllllll....Skymates @ GKY would be an option for you. As would ATP at GKY (and the bonus there is that it would be a TON of multi time - you'd hit 135 minimums pretty quick there.) I'm not sure about what's at FTW...there's a BUNCH of different flight schools over at ADS - Henley's, Classic and Monarch are three that come to mind. US Flight Academy is up at DTO, and they've got a wide and varied fleet.

| I'm not too sure Bill! I'm about 50/50 right now and have been for about 6 months. I'll be in Dallas for a few days in the next few weeks and was going to drop off resumes and check out some of my options up there. God knows I love Austin and the Flying Club, but it's just not a terribly reliable source of income and Austin is expensive! Maybe Bird's Nest will turn things around...

| Depending on how much money you need and how much you want to fly, ATP in ADS might be a good fit for you if there's an opening. I know Turbomax97 works there. There's a whole bunch of places in Dallas, actually. Far more than there are down here. ![]()

| You could also check out US Flight Academy in Denton. That would probably be close to the same distance as Arlington (from Grapevine) but I'd bet the traffic might not be quite as bad. edit: killbilly, I missed that part of your post... |

) but I took a look at their site. Man, they have expanded up there! 18 airplanes, good mix of Pipers, Cessnas and Diamonds. And actually, compared to everywhere else up there, the rates are somewhat reasonable. Hmmm.
