Default Biennial Flight Review

Just wondering what some of you guys do for BFR's... Do you have a standardized way of doing them??

What maneuvers??
What ground stuff do you go over??
Normal landing, short field, soft field??

Default Re: Biennial Flight Review

I start flight review with a written quiz that the pilot completes before we ever meet. It covers a bunch of things and sets the stage for the things we cover on the ground.

The flight varies. Unless there is somehting special about the pilot, I tend to stick with basic maneuvers that show aircraft control (stalls, slow flight and steep turns) and various takeoffs and landings. I also like to do some hood work since most pilots just don't get t otherwise. If the pilot is "special" we may go further and tailior the tasks to him, but all I am really looking for is a pilot about which I feel comfortable about overall safety.

When I was an active CFI, I just treated a flight review like a checkride, straight out of the PTS, with nowhere near the pressure.

On the ground portion, I tried to hit a little of everything, more if they seemed a little weak. On the flight portion, do ALL the maneuvers required for the certificate. Instrument rating? I always went ahead and had them do an approach just to check that as well (even if they were current).
