I recently pulled up a prog chart on the AWC website and it lists: Valid from 0600 UTC FRI 28 DEC 2007 This was for the 12 hour forecast. Am I safe to assume that the forecast is for 12 hours FROM the time listed above, or at the precise time listed above? |

No. The valid time listed is the time that the prog chart is good for. So, this particular chart is good for the snapshot second of 0600Z 28 Fri 2007. It was the chart attached right? It is a 12-hour FORECAST, with a valid time of 0600Z 12/28/07. Meaning, that this chart is using model data from the 1800Z model run, hence a 12 hour forecast (18+12 = 06Z). |
