Default How long after your initial. . .

Did you get an additional rating to your CFI ticket?

Excluding the MEI, or II as the initial.

So, to everyone who got their CFI initial as the ASEL, how long after that did you wait, or take, before you got an additional rating to your flight instructor certificate?

I waited about 4 months between the CFI and the CFII. I did the MEI about a month after I received my CMEL.

Waiting allowed me to get some real instruction time under my belt which made the other ratings a piece of cake.

About 1 month from CFIA to CFII.

The Program here demands it though.

Almost 2 years.

I got some teaching experience while I built up some cash. I spent the time making my syllabus and curriculum, taking the written and chair flying. Over all I spent $300 flying (2 flights), $350 for the checkride and $90 for the written.

Not only that I didn't have to spend $$ on a FIRC.

1 year to the day

Although I didn't instruct during that year, and barely flew at all.

About two months for the CFII.

Though I think the question would be better posed as:
How many hours of instruction did you give?

I think that is a better way to measure how much you have learned and grown as a pilot.

(about 100 hours for me)

About 5 months between the CFIA and the II. I could have my MEI at any time I've just not pulled the trigger since I don't really "need" it for work right now. I'll get it sometime before Christmas.

Got my initial in January 2006, stopped flying literally the next day because of a medical issue. Then got my CFII about 8 months later in October 2006 with about 6 hours dual given. I'm going to start my MEI next week, with currently exactly 500.3 hours of dual given.

Yeah, fair enough. But to be honest, I'm not, and I wasn't, too concerned with how much time an instructor flew between the two.

CFI finished 1st Week in Jan of this year. Have almost 500 Dual and 300 Ground given and am delaying the II for as long as possible (actually no time right now, too busy). Just starting to teach in the Supercub (and that is a blast). Hope to do it in the Spring. Multi sometime this decade.... maybe...

I went through ATP. MEI on a Tuesday, CFII Wednesday, and CFI on Saturday (I had a long wait <sarcasm>).

10 months between CFI and CFII (did almost no flying and no dual between the 2). 12 months between CFII and MEI and it made the MEI check a piece of cake, only had around 400 total dual given by then.
