Default compass error lesson

my CFI-I instructor has asked me to demonstrate witha styrofoam cup and apencil the concepts of magnetic compass error. I KNOW I have seen this demo before, but now I cant seem to be able to repeat it. Anyone know of a web site or quick explanation on this????

Thanks

Poke a hole in the bottom of the styrofoam cup. Turn the cup upside down, and label the directions (N, 030, 060...etc) around the rim of the cup like they would be on the mag. compass card. With the cup turned upside down, put it on the point of the pencil...and there you have it.
