Default How long did your's take?

How long did it take you guys from CFI checkride to the actual time in which you received your physical ticket or until they upgraded your Airmen certification profile?

Hey BD thanks brother - I didn't actually see that at the top - and that is sad, considering I have been to airmen certification about 60 times... I got my ticket on the 23rd of June so they haven't made it yet.

My CFII was July 3rd, still waiting for that one. I might have another checkride done before it shows up.

I have my CFII ride next week. How did yours go? They hit any FOI stuff again? Was it basically just an instrument ride again but from the right? I have HEARD it isn't that bad...

I would ask you what to expect but all examiners are distinctly different.

I am still waiting for my commercial that I got June 20 and my CFI I just got July 25. Looks like I will probably be getting my II before I get my plastic commercial and initial CFI tickets.

It was straight out of the PTS; no lesson plans, no FOI, easy as pie.

It was a "little" harder than the instrument, but only a little.

i wouldn't sweat it. you'll have your temporary certificate so you can go ahead and teach. that's all that really matters..you're a flight instructor.

There is one annoying factor that I had to deal with when I got my CFI. If you try to sign off a student using IACRA (the electronic 8710 on the net), their system will not recognize you as an instructor until your cert. has been processed by the FAA, and they can't override it either.

For some reason out here where I'm at, everyone uses IACRA and the DPE's hardly even have the paper temps anymore, so when this happened to me it made a big paper mess for the DPE.

Yeah all the DE's in Washington love IACRA.

According to a couple DPE's (ones that I had to do paper 8710s for because I wasn't in IACRA yet) the SLC FSDO will refuse paper 8710s without a VERY good reason. I had to do three in one month after my initial CFI and the DPEs had to call to get permission each time. I began to wonder if they would start recognizing my name and get annoyed at the "work" I was causing them. Not that I was doing anything wrong, but making a government employee work is not something you want your name attached too.

iacra...holy cow. i've been doing this for 15 years and never seen it used in arkansas; i've only used paper for 60ish 8710's. of course we only recently got running water, real shoes and a book for the library..
