Default Checkride Bust Endorsements....

Had my first student checkride bust, filling out the paperwork for retest. I need to give him:

1) Endorsement in logbook per 61.49
2) New 8710, does he check the "reexamination" box only....or the boxes that were on his original 8710??

I think, he'd fill out the 8710 exactly the same except he'd check yes at the bottom where it asks if you've failed a practical for this certificate or rating.

Right - assuming nothing else changed (Flight times, medical, etc...)

and 61.49 doesn't require that the remedial training necessarily be flight training..ground instruction may be adequate, even if it was a failed flight maneuver. just says 'instruction' must be given..

And it doesn't even have to be with the same instructor as the previous signoff, correct?

Good question....yeah, ground instruction is adequate from what I have been told.

You do not have to fly with him to give him another endorsement.

That is correct. I've given 61.49 training and signoffs from other instructors' students several times, and another instructor had to do one for me once.
