| I am not sure if this has been covered before and if it has then I am sorry. Does anybody know how to become a pilot examiner. I am curious about the process. I know there are certain minimums that you must meet. Do you have to be sponsered by your local FSDO? Or do you just call them up and apply? Is there a formal oral/checkride like with all other ratings? How does it work? |

| Some information here: http://forums.jetcareers.com/showthread.php?t=20280 (How to become a DPE???) There is probably more, but the search function here won't do 3-letter words apparently.

| Like most things..a lot of politics involved. Not an easy task to achieve. |

| The FSDO chooses you most the time. I saw one guy in Fresno who was called by the FSDO and asked to put in an application. He was at DPE school the next week.
