We do a lot of sport pilot training. I had a student come in to transition from Ultralights to Sport Pilot. He did really well, came in prepared, and studied very hard. He passed his checkride yesterday. It feels good that I helped get him there.

Congrats! It is a great feeling to know you have trained someone well and they can now go do it on their own.

Set of aircraft is broken down by configuration and cruise speed. Slow LSA planes have a cruise speed of less than 87 kts, fast LSAS planes have a cruise speed greater than 87. So you can have 5 hours in a slow tricycle gear LSA, ande teach in any model that fall in that set.

| Where I worked no. No one came through us for a LSA Instructor Ticket, although I thought about doing it as a 200 hour Private Pilot, but I decided to get just my Commercial and full CFI. I know a guy that got his LSA instructor license as a private pilot. Why do you ask? |
