Yes. I can't remember if it is the same number of questions, but it is from the same bank.

Yes it is. I think it has a few less questions though.

60 questions for Instrument and 100 for CFII. Same bank of questions.

I just took this last week. The Flight Instructor Instrument Airplane (FII) written is 50 questions out of a 939 question question bank. It is very similiar to the Inst Airplane written.

Ok cool, Thanks.. YEa, I took the FIA a couple of days ago and it was 100 questions... I havent looked over the test bank for the instrument in a while, just wanted to make sure there was no extra questions or any additional areas of emphasis before I take it.. Ive been taking the practice instr. exams at sportys.com and been passing em, so rather then bust my ass studyind for a week, ill just take it now then.. Thanks a lot for the input guys...

Yes it is - 50 questions, instead of 100, and there may be some helicopter questions in there too.

I took the test a couple of weeks ago and there was a helicopter-related question in there.

I am not sure abut this, but can you get your CFII as your initial instructor rating?... and teach I.R without having a CFI rating and then progress on to MEI without ever having to do the CFI.

The reason I am asking this, I just wrote the Instrument written for the commercial...the material is still fresh in my mind and was thinking of going ahead and writing the CFII written. I am almost done my commercial and was wondering if i could start my CFII training right away after Com.ASEL/MEL/I.R

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can. The regulations limit you to teaching ground and simulator if you only have a CFI-Instrument rating, however people argue that you can teach in an airplane too even though you have no airplane ratings on your CFI certificate and the regulations explicitly say that you must.

Watch this, I just sparked a huge debate.
