Default Commercial part 61 question

one of my commercial students is looking to finish up their training part 61. he brought to my attention that he wants to obtain 50 hours of sim time to put towards his commercial training. in the regs it reads

61.129(i) Permitted credit for use of a flight simulator or flight training device.
"credit a maximum of 50 hours toward the total aeronautical experience requirements for an airplane, providedthe aeronautical experience was obtained from an authorized instructor in a flight simulator or flight training device that represents the category and type..." etc.

he has recieved 20 hours from a "frasca level 6 simulator", which is what his former school stated, and 10 hours in a PCTAD.

where, if anywhere, does it state in the regulations which "simulator or flight training device" is approved for these 50 hours?
i was told a PCTAD won't be approved for the commercial rating, but can only be used for the instrument rating where it says 10 hours in a simulator.

Yeah, I think the Frasca time will be fine, I don't think you can use the PCTAD, though.

It doesn't. The "operations" a sim or FTD can be used for is part of the sim's certification documents.
