Well, TAFs are written by the most junior people at the NWS office, what do you expect?

Yeah but those junior people are the most proficient when it comes to modeling. The senior folks probably haven't touched a forecast model in years.

I used to do TAF's back in the day when I was just an intern. If that tells you anything.
