| Junior Member | Hey guys, I just want to start off by saying that I'm new to this site, and I'm loving what I'm seeing so far...now on to my question. Does anybody know of any good ways to teach ground school to myself. I currently use the Jeppesen Flite Schol PPL CD and it's alright in my opinion. I took one of the FAA tests towards the end, and I got a 67%...everything was good except for the weather part, and anything asking to refer to a figure and measuring stuff; kinda hard to do that on a monitor. So does anybody know how I can teach ground school to myself? |

| Keep in mind that there are two type of video programs. One type is geared to the knowledge test; the other is the ground component of a flight training program. They have different purposes and different emphases. I'm not sure what you have, but I know that Jepp offers both types. From you post, it sounds like the right type. The most effective self study fits the way you learn. For the knowledge test, for most of us, it's a combination of presentation (live, video or audio), reading (books like the weather sections in the Jepp book you have or the many FAA publications available for free at http://www.faa.gov/library/manuals/) and practice in taking the test (books and software simulations from Gleim and some online sources). |

| Old Skool | To me the Jepp book laid a great foundation, but then I got a Gleim to take me over the top.
