| I'm using the computer at work & for some reason the search function isn't op today, so let me ask you guys.... As CFI's what are your thoughts on carrying insurance (as an independant contractor)? I will be looking into AOPA, but 1. do you think it's necessary? 2. if not, why not? 3. if so, where are you getting your insurance from? thanks pals. -mox |

| Unless you are working under another policy I think it is a good idea to get your own coverage. I used to keep a policy through AOPA and it also acted as a renter’s policy. I can’t recall the numbers, but it was pretty good converge for a reasonable cost (I think I paid around $500 a year a few years back). It is only a value as a freelance instructor and does not cover you if you are working for a school that has its own coverage (at least that’s how it was when I was carrying a policy of my own). | falcon insurance offers a pretty good insurance package for independant CFIs. you have to be a member of NAFI. NAFI is $39 and if you get the insurance, it pays for itself, plus you have the additional benefits of being a NAFI member. i am 99% sure that this policy will cover you even if you're operating at a school with its own insurance policy. i also know that the policy will pay for damages that occur in an incident/accident to any student you've taught under the policy (pretty nice if you ask me).
