Well, me and another JC member were talking tonight about the depressed economy here in Indiana (I called 50 FBOs today and none seemed even optomistic about even being able to retain the flight instructors they had, let alone hire any new ones... Focus: Are there any flight schools out there that are hiring, with the following caveats: 1) both me and my friend are looking for seasonal work, from may-august, as we're students at Purdue. 2) We must make enough money to pay rent + food, and by rent, I mean rent at the cheapest place we can live without constant (only occasional) fear of being killed. 3) They must not mind hiring CFII's with low times of dual given (I have 25, he has ~100) Would like to see anything you folks know of, and yes, I know I reak of desperation |

Yes, but my concern is that they'll have no interest in 2 pilots with 300 or so hours with no previous banner tows / skydive jumps

The owner landed, we put the passenger seat in, I did a few T&Gs, took 3 loads up for hop & pops with the owner sitting right behind me, then took up a couple loads by myself, all in one day. ![]() I haven't done any towing, and you do have to get an endorsment for that. |

Don't need an endorsement to tow banners. I got a job doing it at 280 hours. |

I'm not sure how many places hire seasonal CFI's, I'm sure there maybe some, but not many. Your best luck would be with what the other posters said about trying to find a banner towing gig or hauling skydivers. |

Seasonal work... chances are no one will hire you if you basically tell them you're going to quit three months after you start. Think about it as an employer would you hire a 25 dual given cfi who only plans on being there 3 months? Maybe offer to do weekends after the summer is over?! |

Let me be more specific with the endorsement for banner towing. If a company offers training for the "banner towing endorsement" chances are it's a scam because it doesn't exist. You DO need training on how to pick up a banner and some other things outlined in http://www.faa.gov/avr/afs/faa-fs.pdf . You have to be added to a waiver that the company has, and keep a copy of that waiver with you. The company has to keep records for 14 months about your training. The company also may have a waiver to fly in the TFR's around stadiums, and you need to either have a copy of that that or be added to it, I forget (it's been awhile). |

There was a place in SC hiring banner tow pilots for Super Cubs. I called them a while back, we played telephone tag a few times, but I haven't been able to get back in touch with them.

You might be suprised by calling all those FBOs back in mid-April. Demand at our airport more than doubles starting in April and continuing to September.

If your original post topic is really your question, then you should have no problem finding a CFI job. There are a LOT of places that want a CFI. You just may have to move to that job. One of the best things about that CFI is that it works a lot of different places. So, take a look outside Indiana, and you may have better luck. The more population there is in an area, and the higher paying the jobs are in that area, the more potential pilots you have. FL, TX, CA, AZ are a lot bigger markets you may want to try. Pick which one you'd like to be in for the summer |

As for AZ, flight demand decreases exponentially in the summer (I lived there for 4 years) and I really don't want to be in a 152 when the temperature itself is 152 Nothing like using all 7000 feet of a runway with a cessna. |
