Question, If someone has a multi-private with instrument privilages, and proceeds with the multi-commercial, do they need to demonstrate a single engine approach on their commercial checkride?

That's how I did it, and I'm pretty sure I didn't have to do the Single Engine ILS for the Commercial (Part 61). Could be wrong though, it's been awhile.

The answer appears in the Commercial PTS... X. AREA OF OPERATION: MULTIENGINE OPERATIONS NOTE: If the applicant is instrument rated, and has previously demonstrated instrument proficiency in a multiengine airplane or does not hold an instrument rating airplane, TASKs D and C need not be accomplished. C. TASK: ENGINE FAILURE DURING FLIGHT (By Reference to Instruments) D. TASK: INSTRUMENT APPROACH—ONE ENGINE INOPERATIVE (By Reference to Instruments) Still, all applicants should be proficient, should the DE opt to test these areas. Note the wording "need not be accomplished" implies the checkride could include the maneuvers.
