| Well it's official after the "Murder Board" today as they do in the navy (a brief given to all of the"important people" at the flight school so they can tell you the things you did wrong (they call it constructive criticism!)) well it all worked out and I received my uniform and I have my 1st student Sunday! Well I'm a bit nervous but I guess it is 'normal' to be nervous for your first student. I sure wish I wasn't but as with my CFI checkride, I was SO nervous and it went great! Hopefully this will be the same! Any tips would be greatly appreciated! |

| I think I kind of bumbled all over myself for my first student...lol. I was a bit nervous, but as soon as we sat in the airplane, it all flowed naturally!! Tips? For one, remember, a zero-time student doesn't know what a "mag" is, doesn't understand what "Full Rich" is and certainly doesn't know what the hell a "crosswind" turn is. So, don't get frusterated when you say, "left mag" and they look at you like you raped his/her sister!!!! ![]() |

| Senior Member | Uniform? Good advice Lloyd gave. Use things like "push this forward all the way until it stops. That is the power lever. Works similar to the go pedal on your car", or "turner this key back to the left one click turns off half of your spark plugs. We'll talk more about how that works on your next lesson" (which, gets them to want to come back to the next lesson to learn the next thing). Really helps to point and touch everything as you introduce that, because, the student likely doesn't know a DG unless you show them what it is. Remind them always to have fun (and remember, this should be fun for you as well). |

| Awesome I appreciate the input. I had my first "dual" time today because wx on the weekend was IFR. The pilot just got his instrument rating and I was taxiing him to SLC to get his sweet bonanza but on final since he wasn't used to the Katana his a/s got a bit slow and the flare was a bit high...but I didn't know if I should grab the stick or just let it be...any comments?!? Also..how the h*ll do you get a jpeg that is only 18x32 or whatver it is? I can't seem to get it to upload a pic? |

After I had CFI insurance, I was alot more comfortable. . . [ QUOTE ] Also..how the h*ll do you get a jpeg that is only 18x32 or whatver it is? I can't seem to get it to upload a pic?
