Ok guys.. sorry stupid Q and I did some searching.. i'm having a hard time getting numbers from some guys at school.. trying to figure out budgeting and when I tell them I've got so much money they usually say, "yeah that should be enough" (yeah but how many hours should I expect am I close or way over???) lol.. anyway if you guys are bored - could you guys answer or point a direction on how I can find how many hours it takes for each of these ratings? Is there an hour req? I know multiengine add on there is and i've read that (part 61)..just wondering what it took you guys to do it. I'm looking for the amount of flying hours..this all depends on how fast I learn but what average should I expect? CFI (initial) <--important.. CFII<--important one.. MEI <-no clue how many hours.. MEL (add on for CSEL it's like 15~20 right?) thanks - Matthew (I need a cooler avatar.. hot girl.. hot plane.. dancing bear.. mmm ) |

CFI (initial) : My CFII was my initial...I think I had about 8 hours of dual. CFI-A : It was an add-on, and I had about 5 hours of dual. I think it all depends on how prepared you are before you start training. |

Man, if you're 'of age' and can qualify for military jets, I certainly would in a heartbeat. MikeD's out there dropping bombs and blowing ##### up, and I'm "2500 until established, cleared ILS 27L, Delta 119" six times a day. *yawn!* |

From your site you have 203hrs (sweet cover pic btw)... you can easily do the comm / cfi right at 250, maybe even get the ii close to that. I wouldn't stress over the multi; you can do that later on... took me about 15 hrs for the CMEL instrument, then the other 15 pic required to get the mei. |

[/ QUOTE ] There's a school in my area that has a program to get you SE Comm and your CFI at the same time. You just do most of your Comm training from the right seat to get used to it. I'm probably gonna do that to get my Comm SE add-on and CFI in the next couple of months. |

[ QUOTE ] My favorite place!!! [/ QUOTE ] And damn near my only choice. I didn't mention their name to spare you, Lloyd. There's hardly ANY flight training in the Memphis area. And NONE of the are affordable ($130/hr for a 172SP. GIVE ME A FRIGGIN BREAK!). |

just keep in mind you don't really need a 'program' to get you the comm / cfi back to back. I did it pt 61 with an independent cfi and it worked out great.

Of course, we could get you done pretty quick around here.... Well, never mind - I can't do initial CFI training... |

It'd be cheaper to stay in a hotel in BNA for a week than pay those prices. It's close to $100/hr for a 172 older than I am, and the avionics instructions are written in Sanskrit. |

Oh yes. It's the perfect blend of 'just what the hell IS that' and 'I can't take my eyes off that thing'

Apparently I was a slow learner for my initial compared to you guys. For the CFI, I had 23-24 hours of flight and probably 20-30 worth of ground (single-engine VFR being my "weaker" area of flying...go figure!). CFII took about 5 hours, and MEI was another 5. |

hey guys thanks for the numbers The sad thing is.. well our program is a great program and the planes are fun but currently i'm enrolled in a part 141 school which currently is going to put me 20 hours OVER 250 (which is dumb and hope they don't read this..) but i've asked to switch "folders" to go back to part 61 (my private was done 61 but followed a 141 syllabus and my instrument was done 141.. I know confusing..) I don't know what i'm going to do if they make me stay part 141.... the CFI here is part 61 so that adds to the confusion here.. that's why i'm lost because I don't have or seen anything that says, "must do this in blah blah hours" so that's my situation but thanks again for the numbers that really helps (lower than I thought) Matthew Doug - eh, i'm staying with your career vs. military i've seen those cell phone pics.. that's heaven compared to where I am now - what is the age limit for reserve? I bet they would take you. Skyguyed - thanks yeah that web site I got in trouble awhile ago for naughty pictures on it (doug knows) but thanks it's a web page that I keep putting off.. I should work on it. I'd love to do CFI as well but doesn't CFI require ground training endorsment that you have recieved some sort of ground instruction? I haven't done that yet. kellwolf - our price is $120 for an arrow and $30 for the instructor.. that's what most of my CFI,CFII is going to be in that's why i'm stressing about money lol.. too bad we're both not going to seattle huh riddle- eh i'm probably pass you on flying hours are school is so busy it's hard to schedule the arrows (they only have 2 of them) so I bet I pass ya.. did I miss anyone? thanks again guys! (love this site..) |
