Default Tailwheel Transition

CPS is pleased to announce that we will be offering a 2 day Tailwheel Transition course within the next month. We will be utilizing a Piper Super Cub. We are also looking into offering a "Bush Flying" course as well.

This is the greatest step that CPS has taken in its history! More important than the Jet-prep or anything else you have offered. Your have vaulted past your competition now and are THE premier flight school on JC. Congrats!

Michael,

Couple of questions here....

Will you be able to combine other programs with the tailwheel? IE - get your private or IR in it?

If I'd had access to a TW airplane when I was getting my private (besides the C140 we had in the club which was broken a lot) I would have done so.

Possibly on the Private Pilot. It depends on what the insurance company says. We might have to go the "Dual Only" route, which would mean a student could do their training in it, but switch to the tricycle gear to finish up.

I would think that even a little exposure to the Super Cub in the primary training sylabus would be beneficial. The students would for sure understand the importance of the rudder. Not sure how much adverse yaw a Super Cub has, but Aeronca Champs and Chiefs have a goodly amount - you cetainly can tell if your turns are coordinated without looking at the T&B.

Still working on pricing the package. Mark George would be the primary tailwheel instructor. He has a ton of time in that aircraft as a pilot and instructor.
