Default Winter

Is it a good idea to fly in winter? I don't know nothing about kansas in winter. I'm thinking of starting my training by the end of january or before. Would this be a good idea? What do you think?

There is nothing wrong with flying in the winter as long as you don't mind a little cold. We get cold snowy winters in the midwest, but a lot of the time it is dry. The airplane will perform better in the cold weather. The biggest concern with winter flying in the midwest is icing.

Visibility is usually pretty good. Generally the only issues are the cold, ice(just stay out of the clouds), and an occasional snow storm.

Winter is a GREAT time to start the program. The aircraft perform better, the air is smooth, and everybody else wants to fly in the summer, so traffic is minimal. I think this past winter we had about 15 non-flyable days. There is still plenty we can cover on the ground and typically there are never more than two days in a row where the weather is poor enough to ground the fleet.

We can come up with a custom program for your needs. (We do this ALL the time). Shoot me an email with the amount of hours, certs, and ratings you want and I can give you an accurate quote.
