Default Few question for ya!

First of all I would like to say that I think its great that you(Mr.Seigal) take the time to respond to all who post here. Its comforting to know that you take the time and care about current and potential students!

Ok here we go lol!

I am going to finish my ppl real soon(in a month or less) and I would like to tour your school. The problem is--I live in California.Any suggestions?

Secondly, I am very interested in the accelerated course. With having my ppl prior to attending how much time would the course take?

And one more question for now(until I can think of a few more)
Are the accelerated students paired up?

Thats questions--not question!! Sorry for the typos!

No worries on the typos!

I think it is important to take the time to not only talk to each student, but work with them as well once they arrive here in Kansas City.

As for the tour, you can come out if you like, but we have all seen airplanes and offices before. I keep Career Pilot School as laid back as possible. No uniforms or crazy time consuming procedures. Probably the best thing to do is give us a call. You have about a 99% chance of talking to me as the weather is pretty horrendous today. If you haven't been to Kansas City before, I would describe it as a big city with a small town feel.

The time to complete the course (I assume you are looking at our Career Pilot Program: 290 hours, IR, PMEL, CMEL, CSEL, CFI, CFI-I, MEI) is approximately 90-120 days. We budget for 120 days, but if it takes less, great! If not, at least we planned for four months.

We don't typically pair up students for training. We do not utilize any safety pilot time unless two students request it. We do pair up students for housing (but there is a possibility of having your own studio or 1 bedroom apartment).

Keep the questions coming!

Don't worry about the Mr.Siegel thing. Makes me feel old! Just call me Michael or Mike.

What happens if you enroll in the 4 month program and do not finish within 4 months? Also, about how much total multi time is logged in the career program? How much PIC time?

You WILL finish in 4 months. If scheduling is not an issue (weather, aircraft, instructors), it is possible to finish in 90 days. We are realistic. We would rather plan for scheduling snafu's and plan for four months rather than scramble at the end of a 90 day period to get everything crammed in.

Here are the multi times for each program:

Accelerated Career Pilot Program: 100 Hours Multi, 290 total time (or 240 if you have your PPL)
Self Paced Career Pilot Program: same as above
Accelerated Regional Direct Program: 190 ME, 600 Total time (or 550 if you have your PPL)

For the Career Pilot Program, 100% of your ME time is left seat time. NO safety pilot time at all. There is SOME safety pilot time in the accelerated regional direct program, but it is less than 30%.

What if you need more time to complete the accelerated program is there any additional costs (housing, airplanes, etc)? When you start the program will be quoted the actual price you will be paying? Can the price change when you are in the program? I guess I just wanted a little more explanation about how the programs financial side works. I did see the estimated price on the website, but I also wanted to know if you pay for each rating as you progress or if there is one lump sum you are quoted to pay? I know I have a lot of questions and I appreciate you taking the time to explain all of this.

You will not need any additional flight time. We do not use the minimum amounts required for each certificate and rating. For example, we plan for 50 hours of flight time for the PPL and 50 hours for the IR. 95% of the time, students complete the PPL training in less than 45 hours and the IR in less than 42 hours. If you go more than 50, there is single engine time building built into the program, so we can borrow hours from that segment of your program. The same goes for the ME training and time building.

The only possible additional cost if you go over 4 months is housing.

The quoted price we give you is the price of the program throughout your training. If the price changes while you are here, it does not affect you. The price on the website will be going up (not very much) due to fuel prices. I can give you an up to date quote if you shoot me an email.

The majority of students pay in one lump sum.

Michael -

You guys have a very well-done website. Everything I wanted to know was easy to find, informative, and your marketing material was attractive without being...overpowering like some places. I've always liked KC - seems like you have a good setup there.

Good job on that. If I had the money laying around, I'd give ya a visit.

Thanks! Come out anyways! I always like talking to new people, even if you don't attend my school. You never know where you will see that person next.

Case in point, today I was in Topeka with a student for a Multi Engine Commercial Checkride. It just so happened that there was another Commercial student there from White Air with his instructor. They were both great guys and I enjoyed meeting them. I am sure we will cross paths in the future.
