Got some info about the February Announcement Referral List!

Hey everyone! I just got off the phone with the FAA Career Division, and the lady I spoke to (her name was Nikki), said that they are going to do the referral lists for the February announcement in June!!! She said that the "states" are going to be meeting then, and once the states in which you put down as your geographical preference have met, you will then either be put on the referral list for that state, or not put on the list.

So, unfortunately, all of us that have been waiting patiently to get hired are going to have to wait at least another 3 weeks before we're going to hear anything! Also, she said that they haven't decided when they are going to be meeting for the announcement that closed in May, this is only the February announcement!

Also, she informed me that if you put down "additional" areas in the comment section, you aren't going to be considered for those states that you put down in the comment section. They are only going to consider you for just the two states you selected at the top of the webpage.

Just curiously, where did everyone select as their two states? Maybe we can get a poll going and see where the more popular areas are!

I promised my fiance that I would do what I can to keep us in Kansas City, so I ended up selecting Kansas and Missouri. I'm hoping that I'll hopefully get ZKC Kansas City Enroute since I live in Olathe, and the move would be fairly easy for me!

Is this just for the creation of the referral lists? Did she mention if the panels would still be meeting in July? By the way I chose Georgia.

First, I'll believe this when I see it. I've encountered too many cases already where they say one thing, someone else says another thing, then reality ends up being a third thing.

Second - the referral lists will be generated BEFORE the panels meet. The panels hire from those people included on the referral list. If the referral lists are generated in June, that still leads me to believe the panels are meeting in July.

My choices - Tower Only

1st - IL (Chicagoland & Rockford counties)
2nd - IA (Linn County - Cedar Rapids)

These are my prefered choices so I thought I would go with them this round and then open myself up for Tower or Enroute for the May posting. My preferences in order are PWK, DPA, ARR, RFD, CID, MDW then ORD. I heard through a friend of a friend situation that ORD is a "mess right now and they have more people training than are qualified" (not sure if she meant certified). I also don't think that is the best place to start with zero experience. I would love to work my way up to there though.

Did you only apply in January 2007? What states have you applied for? I missed the GA announcement last year so unfortunately I have to wait until the Feb applications are processed to get my chance in GA.

The only FAA facility would be Camarillo Tower.

NAS Point Mugu, Point Mugu Appraoch & Oxnard Tower are all there, too. Oxnard is contracted and obviously Mugu is military.

MI was my first choice and GA was second. From the GRR area and currently working as a loadmaster in ATL. I chose terminal only.

No, I missed the Georgia announcement last year...I applied throughout the nation in February. I am in the same boat as you so we'll be waiting to get on the referral list for GA and hopefully get picked up. Good luck to us both

I want ZKC as well. I live in Grandview, which isn't too far from Olathe. I took a tour there a few years ago... nice place. I really don't want to have to sell my house & move. Lived in KC all my life. Hope we both get it.

First choice: New York for JFK, ISP, LGA and EWR (since it is a part of Port Authority of NY/NJ. I'm an NYC girl... hard to break a habit!!!)

Second choice: Florida for MCO, MIA, DAB (lived in FL for 2 years and worked for Disney - still got the ticket hook up lol)

I'm with Sooner, I'll believe it when I see it, but the time frame does sound about right. It figures that if we put in our preferences in May, then the referral lists will be sometime in June, then maybe we'll be contacted in July.

For me, I said Terminal only, and picked FL (Orange, Hillsborough, Sarasota, and Lee Counties) and NC (Hopefully Raleigh or Charlotte)

Just got this email yesterday:

I apologize for not answering your e-mail earlier; we are currently experiencing an overwhelming number of e-mails and phone calls.

We have a selection panel that will be coming in at least once a quarter to make their selections. We are told what locations the panel will be hiring for until a week or two before they arrive. For the announcement that closed in Feb, our panel should be here sometime in Jul/Aug..
