Default Honest Answers Please

On the application, where they ask "have you've done any illegal drugs in the past 7 years", how many of you can honestly say that you answered this question truthfully?

I can. Why does everyone who does something illicit assume everyone else does as well?

I answered honestly, which was yes, and I got my firm offer today over the phone!

My husband answered honestly, no. I have known my husband since we were 7. Neither of us have ever done illegal drugs.

Just wondering why in the hell you are asking this question?!?! Are you suprised that some people would actually answer NO and mean it. It may shock the hell out of you that some people have better things to spend their money on---Like gasoline for one.....and they just might have something more important to do with their time---Like raise a family!!!

I'm not too sure that he was implying that because someone does something illegal, he thinks everyone does. It was just a question he had, and I don't think jumping all over him was the best way to answer that. It was a yes or no question.

Also, 7 years ago, I was 16 years old. I'm not admitting anything or incriminating myself at all, but for some, those are the prime "experimental" years.

I have not answered that question yet, but, I can tell you that my answer would be honest.

Wynn,

It was mainly in the way the question was posed - as if anyone who fills out the SF-86 can't possibly tell the truth (thereby implying we have something to hide).

Touché sir, I get ya now. I dig the name by the way. Was born in Shawnee, haven't been back in a million years though.

Qucik question though, do you know where I could find a listing of all of the facilities in the US and what level they are? Figured I would ask you as opposed to starting a new thread.

It's outdated according to some current ATCs, but it will at least put you in the ballpark.

I had to fill out the SF-86 for my current job, answered the question honestly and never heard about it after that.

I'm not sure what kind of clearance they'll be investigating for (does anyone know?) but there were 2 people we tried to hire that got denied because of financial history -- they looked at them as a threat to accept money in exchange for information

As in, bad credit? I've been worried about this, and don't know what to think. and do different facilities have different clearances?

Yes I believe as in bad credit AND a combination of things other than just your credit score. I believe a history of defaulting on loans, fore closures, late payments, collections all play a roll (at least for my job now - not sure if this will be a similar clearance or not).

I'm anxious to see if my employer questions me when(if) my next clearance goes through once they see that I just purchased a Condo, new car, and maxed out a few cards. I have a bad habit of impulse buying at Best Buy!

I answered honestly as well which was YES.

Fwiw though I have a near perfect credit score and nothing else bad on my background but it is important to be truthful always.
