Default Basic texts or manuals for controller hopefuls.

I'm an OTS (non CTI) waiting on a referral list. Took the ATSAT on 3/15 and placed in well-qualified. As someone with no prior aviation experience, I figure its probably a good idea to catch up on the fundamentals before academy. Can someone recommend a list of books or manuals that a newbie can use to get the basics down?

thanx in advance

Most importantly, 7110.65x (x is any letter of the most recent revision)
7210.3x is good to get into once you get around to being CIC/CPC.

The AIM (Aeronautical Info Manual) and FAR's (Federal Aviation Regulations) are good to review as well.

Thanks for the recommends. Definitely gonna study those. As far as basic understanding of aviation matters and traffic control goes, is there anything else I should be doing to prepare right now?

Search for blogs from people who went through OKC. There's some for terminal and en route out there...will give you an idea of what to expect and depending on how well it was written...will teach you a thing or two.

YES!

LISTEN, LISTEN, LISTEN!

You can learn a wealth of phraseology (some good, some bad) by just listening to live feeds. You can even just play it in the background.
