Default Facility Selection

I applied to ATL last summer to an announcement only for ATL. Since then, I have became more flexible in moving. Is it anyway possible to be added to additional facilities list after an annoucement has closed?

I've only applied to ATL, and on the FAA ASAP website it says

Referral list FA-AAC-08-10464: Issued on 01/25/2008 for the Atlanta, Georgia duty location at the FG-1 grade/payband.
  • Another candidate has been selected for announcement # AAC-AMH-07-PUBGA-05666 for which you applied. We appreciate your interest in employment with the Federal Aviation Administration. Please continue to check the website for vacancies of interest to you.
guess I didn't make the cut

I'd be willing to go someplace else down south, but I dont know if there's any way for us to change that.

I just checked mine and I received the same message. I guess I'm out as well unless I find out how to get onto other list. I only applied to ATL at the time but since I took the test, I have applied to other locations but I'm told all of these are for the selections to be made next year. Here is the kicker, I turn 31 in December. I guess I need to look elsewhere for employment ......

you can't be added to an announcement after it has closed. However you're not necessarily out guys, they may pull another one or two referral lists for the Atlanta area depending on how many they need and the list will be smaller than the last one. Keep positive. It will happen for you. I was selected in the first round of the IN selections but declined. I had to wait a few months but then I was eventually selected for the third round of the NY region. Since you are turning 31, when they start asking for geographical preferences for the 08 waive, maybe put a few places that not that many people would want to go if you are willing to go somewhere for a few years b/f putting in for a transfer. ie- NM, IN, MT, ME, Guam??? Well i don't know if you would go to guam(heard its hard to transfer out of) but be sure to pick a few states that are not the most desirable places to live that have maybe multiple towers, or a center or tracon. I know that ZAB is hurting for guys right now as well as ZID. Obviously put down your top preferences but have a few backups like an IN as well. Goodl luck guys!!

thanks for the vote of confidence tilli. I wouldn't mind going to ZID or even NY. I'd prefer a level 12 facility... I want a challenge! Congrats on getting picked, where are you going in NY?

lol, I wanted Indy. Got selected for Indy Center. And yes, they are kind of hurting for people. My dad works at Indy center and his area has 5 people eligible to retire in the next 2 years and only 2 trainees...

Be careful what you wish for. May be better starting off at a lower facility and then going up. That's what the rep from ZKC told us on our tour. They think it's a shame to take people off the street and throw them in a level 11 or 12 facility. Pretty high dropout rate. Just FYI...

I'm up to the challenge. I don't just quit things... They'd have to fire me!!! If I haven't quit the job I have now, then I can probably put up with just about anything (except cleaning toilets...)

I'm on the list for SYR, HPN, BGM. I hoping for one of the first two. I'll find out where I'm headed on 3/20 as long as I don't screw up the interview.
Hey JT, just wanted to clarify that IN is definitely not the worst place to live. I went out there, had a tour of the facility and met some great guys at the facility. I actually liked a majority of the areas around INDY alot. My problem was that I brought the fiance with me. She said no way!! Haha....I guess I have to admit I'm whipped pretty bad or else we may have been working together. Good luck @ ZID!

Lol, I know, i was just messing with you. My wife isn't all that excited about moving to indy either, but I told her I will be making 3x the money she does, and since she has alot of debt in student loans, and i have none, my high paying job takes priority lol. Did you tour the Indy ARTCC or TRACON? If you toured the center, and met a guy named TB...that's my dad.

Good luck with ur interview. Show up early and wear a tie. You do that, and you are pretty much good to go.
