Re: Faa Academy......gi Bill Codwell,
Found this: "The FAA is presently working with Department of Veterans Affairs on approving training for veterans who are FAA employees and eligible to use his/her Montgomery GI Bill benefits for education and/or on-the-job training (OJT) in air traffic control and airway transportation specialist. The OJT approval process has not been completed and FAA managers are not authorized to sign off on paper work submitted by FAA employees for use of Montgomery GI Bill benefits. However, FAA employees may submit a request to VA to establish their eligibility for Montgomery GI Bill benefits but should not submit any forms to their manager. FAA employees should check with their VA Education Counselor to see if establishing a date of eligibility is beneficial.
With regard to employees submitting an application with VA to ensure that a claim date has been generated, the VA has already indicated directly to me that this will help to ensure "back entitlements" for eligible employees once the program is certified. We need to ensure that our BUE's are not engaging either management or challenging/verbally abusing the VA representatives as this has happened over the past few weeks and can only hurt the process."
