| Re: ATSAT Scores Just keep it simple. Remember, if a plane is travelling at XYZ kts, that means it will travel XYZ nautical miles in one hour. Try to use equivalent fractions as much as possible.
Example: If N12345 is flying 450 kts, how far will it have travelled in 20 minutes?
Answer: 20 minutes is 1/3 of an hour, so find 1/3 of 450. In 20 minutes, N12345 would fly 150 nautical miles.
Example: If N12345 starts at 10,000 feet and is climbing at 500 feet per minute flying at 350 kts, what is its altitude after 70 miles?
Answer: 70 miles is 1/5 of 350. 1/5 of an hour is 12 minutes. 12 minutes x 500 feet per minute = 6000 feet. If it started at 10,000 feet, it's altitude after 70 miles is 16,000 feet.
Example: If N12345 is travelling west at 300 kts and N6789 is travelling east at 150 kts, how far apart will they be in 2.5 hours?
Answer: N12345 is flying 300 kts, so in 2.5 hours it would have travelled 750 miles. N6789 is flying 150 kts, so in 2.5 hours it would have travelled 375 miles. That means in 2.5 hours, they would be 1125 miles apart.
Use whatever system you need to, but keep it as simple and as logical as possible.

| Re: ATSAT Scores I totally understand what you're saying about the math section Sandman. I'm not the greatest in math, and I guarantee that's what helped bring my score down some. I passed, but I'm not satisfied w/ what I got; wish I can take the test again...especially seeing what I know now, thanks to this great forum. Oh yeah I got a 79.6.

| Re: ATSAT Scores UHHH, Kmiller, don't say that! I feel like I totally bombed the math section... I attribute it to 1. sleeping in the car the night before (cause the rooms were $200+ a night) 2. The math part being the 2nd part of the test (and I was still half asleep) and 3. Nerves that the math part would screw me up...
Oh well, can't do anything about it now, just waiting for test results.

How much time for the math section did it give you? And the timing is by section right, not each question? |

Ok good, that's what I figured. I've been studying with the cd for the "green book" and it gives you around 30 seconds or so for each question and moves on, and I'm not using anything just doing it in my head and some of the questions I'm just about to figure out and *poof* next question. So that's a relief! |

| Re: ATSAT Scores I took mine on the 20th and got an 84.9. I really wish that I had gotten .10 so that I would be well qualified, but oh well. I honestly didn't think that I was going to pass. I don't have an ATC background, just flying. I felt pretty goodon the whole test except for the analogy section, that thing made me feel like crap (the colored shapes section).
Now I need to find out what to do next. Can anyone help guide a newbie?

| Re: ATSAT Scores Now you just wait until they contact you for the PEPC. Did you apply to the Feb 08 opening? I don't think they are doing referral lists for that yet. I think they are just working on people from last year openings.

| Re: ATSAT Scores I still have not received my scores and after multiple phone calls and email this week trying to find out answers to why my scores have not been posted, I talked with a lady named Maggie that works at the FAA. She did some quick research and discovered that Robinson did not send in anyones scores that took the test March 7th in Arlington TX. She is looking into it and hoping to have them posted by Friday. If anyone else took their test in Arlington and is still waiting for scores I hope this information is helpful. For me it has been 19 days and waiting.......

19 days!?! Everyone else I've seen so far gets their test results at an average of about 3 days. I take my test Friday and I'm hoping to have my results by Monday *crosses fingers*. |

| Re: ATSAT Scores I am officially the village idiot. 83.8 doubt I will be seeing any of you in OKC. The only part I really felt bad about was the math. Actually I thought I aced everything else (well, maybe not those screwy analogy questions) but even the letter factory was a breeze.
My husband got a 96.3 so he will probably be in OKC with the rest of you smarties! I can't even use the "sleeping in the car" excuse since he did so well.
I guess I can't do anything about it now. I just feel really crappy about it. ::sigh::

It's like that old Chris Rock joke: C's get degrees.
I completely guessed on the math section. |

| Re: ATSAT Scores First time poster on JC but been reading for a couple of months. Wish I would have started sooner so I would have known about the Prep Books a lot of people talk about. But for someone with no air exp but been with Homeland Security for 3 yrs. I'll take the 80.7 I got. I've made some referral list but no interview yet, hope for something soon.

Congrats. | Thanks! I'm hoping for ZTL, it would help me with certain family situations and whatnot, plus my brother works center there so I can make him look bad. |

Then I've read that soon, the people who applied for the Throughout the Nation (as I did) opening will be able to put where you would like to go. So I'm not sure what to think at this point, guess I'll just have to wait and see. |
