| Re: ATSAT Scores You can't really study. If you know how to read a dial, (like your gas guage or speedometer) you'll do fine with that. If you can do simple rate/distance problems in your head, you'll be fine there. (a plane travelling at 320 knots goes how far in 15 minutes?......80miles) Analogies are tougher, but those involve reading the directions, you shouldn't have too much of a problem though, the instructions are very clear. The scan portion is easy, but it would be in your best interest to practice typing on the keypad on your keyboard. You have to pump out 2 digit numbers at a high rate of speed.
I already gave advice to the box factory portion in another thread. Basically, to do well with the questions, constantly tell yourself details about what's going on in your head. ie. constantly assess the situation, so you won't be surprised when the questions come.
The scenario part is like a video game, and you will have some separation errors or crash a few planes. Don't worry, I don't think that portion is weighted very heavily.
Basically, the best way to prepare is to read the instructions carefully, pay attention during the practice problems, and get a good nights sleep. You will do fine. Good luck! |

I spoke with the FAA yesterday and found out the test will apply to any jobs I applied for. From what I found out, the Eastern division met in Feburary (enroute met in early Feburary, and terminal met in late February) to pull applicants of which they are now going through PEPC during March (ie Jacksonville, Miami the last two weeks). The Eastern division is responsible for filling positions from Memphis going east and from Maine to Florida. I don't know about the centeral and western divisions of when they met etc.
It is estimated that the Eastern division will be meeting again in April to select more applicants for interviews/PEPC (of which I guess PEPC would occur in May based on last cycle)
From what I read on another post from someone who just went through PEPC in Miami on Monday, he was told it would take a month to hear back regarding a class date for OKC. I also found out they like to give a 30 day notice prior to having to attend class. So looks like 2 months after PEPC before actually heading to OKC.

Of course I'll post it, when/if I get it. Who knows. I'm just excited that I got my test scores back and that they're hiring. I'm young, I have no family, and I've been dreaming of this for years. I don't even really care where I go! I just want to hurry up and start this career. |

| Re: ATSAT Scores For the angles, you could just use a compass to draw 30*, 60*, etc angles and then get familiar with those.
Math - not sure there, other than using an old algebra textbook. Sometimes those will have the "train departs XYZ at..." type problems.

| Re: ATSAT Scores Hey all,
I've been watching the boards for a bit since I found this right before I took the ATSAT on 03/10. It took about 5 business days to get the results. I got them this past Monday. I got a 90 on the test. Just waiting to hear back now. |

| Re: ATSAT Scores oh, and with the distance=rate x time problems, remember, one hour = 1.
This is important, because if there is a problem that uses a time that is less than an hour, you should use the appropriate decimal.
My problem from earlier.
D = R x T
? = 320 x .25 (15 minutes is one quarter of an hour)
80 = 320 x .25
I hate to spell it out so simply, I know you guys aren't dumb, but getting a strong hold on these questions is important. |

| Re: ATSAT Scores Where on the ASAP does your score get posted? Is it on the first page where it states that "You have been selected to take the AT-SAT test.....?" I am assuming that is where it would be. I've also heard under "User Information" and then "Test Information".
I took the test on Wednesday, and I would have loved to get my score before Easter so I can tell my relatives who are ATC, but I don't think that will happen! |

| Re: ATSAT Scores It will be on the first page, right above the "you have been selected..." part, and it will also be in the user information part. I took mine on the 4th, and didn't get the update until the 17th. I hope your's goes quicker though. The wait is killer! |

Originally Posted by 302av i guess so but 320=15*80 is that how i would be doing it | No, be sure you can separate what they are asking you. with the problem i gave, (the 320 at fifteen minutes gets you how far).
320 is the rate
15 minutes is the time
they are asking you how far. (distance)
Now remember that time is calculated in HOURS this is important because anything less than an hour would be a decimal. For instance, 30 minutes is .5 hours, and 15 minutes is .25 hours.
so the equation would be set up as R x T = D
(320) x (.25) =D
so, 320 x .25 =80
Tip. When multiplying by decimals, they can be divided by the inverse. Example, multiplying .5 is the same as dividing by 2. Mulitplying .25 is the same as dividing by 4. It will not get more complicated than that on the test.
There will be one other complication though. It is thouroughly explained on the test instructions, and it involves airspeed and tailwind or headwind. If it says speed, and not airspeed then the wind is completely irrelevant. You will see. The important part is understanding that equation. I hope I explained it well. |
