Default SEA App question?

Hello Seattle Approach,

Its Smokey 3 or 4 depending on the airplane. Based out of OLM as you know and we fly in crap weather almost daily (seems that way anyway) Its frequently IFR at the field but seems to clear heading north to Seattle. So I have to file but then need to do my duties when VFR is available. We have a discreet squawk and it seems I usually get questioned when I cancel IFR and you advise to squawk 1200. I decline flight following and many times have heard "verify negative flt following?" I then squawk our discreet code. Is there a better way? Would you like it in the comments of the flight plan who we are? Any information would be helpful and I will pass it on to the other guys.

Thanks for any info

Troy

Oh I see I thought WSP was call sign guardian maybe that is King County Sheriff and their helo.

Did you ever venture here (KMWH) while you worked for the DEA? There was a big bust here a few years ago which was interesting to watch.

Hello TrooperTroy,

I am a controller over KGRF and I'd like to know what the requirements are to fly for WSP? Do you have to spend some time as a trooper on the ground before they put you in the air? and if so, for how long do you have to do that?...I have a buddy of mine also a controller/pilot that is interested in doing that...thank you.

Hi DR

You have to go through the academy and work the road for at least one year hold a Comm Inst rating. The patrol will pay for the Multi and we go to flight safety in Witchita or Long Beach CA for King Air training.
