Default Thanks for doing a tough job

I'm a JetBlue guy based in JFK for the past 1.75 years. Working jobs like JFK ground or Final on busy/bad weather days has got to be a bear. It's hard enough for me just to find a second to check in. I can't imagine what your radar screens look like. Sometimes you guys sound pretty frustrated. We certainly get frustrated too. In any case, that job sounds pretty intense and I wanted to say thanks for doing a tough job.

There is one particular controller at JFK who always sounds pretty upbeat. I have know idea who he is but his raspy voice reminds me of the Funky Cold Medina guy. It's nice to hear that kind of attitude on the job.

Enough of this touchy-feely crap. But thanks.

I don't work at JFK, but found this in the NY Times.

"At Kennedy International tower, ground zero for concern about congestion in U.S. airspace, the number of fully trained controllers dropped 42 percent since 2001. Of the 22 remaining, one-third must retire during this calendar year and 12 could do so. During that period, daily operations rose from 1,000 to 1,400 last year."

Sounds like things are going to get a whole lot crazier at JFK!

JFK wouldn't be the cluster it is if you protoscab clowns didn't invade the place.

Seriously, I've interacted with a good number of controllers up here in Maine. Job well done. But you can definitely tell when you are working with a new guy (or girl)
