Walnut Gardens seems popular, but I've heard it can be a little dirty and loud at times. Same thing with Apple Tree and the other one. If the FAA is footing the bill, I got the government rate at the Wingate hotel on Meridian which was pretty nice. I also got a free rental car for the 3 weeks I spent there. If they don't want to give you the free car, tell them that another hotel is offering it and they will probably do it for you. The shuttle van also stops there, but you need a car if you'll be there any good length of time to go to Walmart and stuff.

I was in OKC quite a few years ago... I stayed at Walnut Gardens and liked the place. Speaking to the new people coming in a lot of people still stay there. If I remember correctly it is a gated residence which in that part of OKC is a good thing.

Does the FAA foot the bill for your apartment while going to the school for 13-15 weeks? Or is that the reason for the new per diem they are giving out.

Yes new students in the FAA get per diem while attending OKC. I was at Mansions South (you get what you pay for, arg) Everyone in my class was at Walnut Gardens. They have free beer on Thursday nights, and Mansions has free food on Wednesday nights.

I might be wrong but I was told that Walnut Gardens stopped with the free beer because of a fight or something like that. I stayed there in Sept/Oct and it was OK for being in Oklahoma.
