Default Can not be over age 30 for hiring?

I have been looking at some ATC schools and have been told by several schools that since I am 45 i won't get hired for an ATC position. Is this the standard in the industry? I thought age discrimination was against the law?

I don't know the specific age cutoff for ATC but I do know there are many other positions with similiar cutoffs: FBI, many fire departments, etc.

Sucks but is definitely legal.
