Going to the Academy in November!

I will be placed at BED in Massachusetts. Live in NH, but it won't be a tough commute which is nice.

ATC, are you an OTS or CTI? did you test in the beginning of June in BOS?

OTS. I took the exam at the end of May @ the FAA facility in Burlington, MA.

Does anyone know when I should be receiving my "Welcome" packet with all of the specifics? My class date is Nov 15 - Feb 15 and I am anxious to know the details.

Tip One: Buy renters insurance. Many parts of OKC are on the shady side. I came home from a nice day of radar problems to find my door kicked in (literally laying on the ground) and all our laptops and other personal items stolen. That said, for about $20 dollars we could have had insurance for the entire three months.

Tip Two: If you're enroute, don't sweat non-radar. It's not pass fail (although they are thinking of changing that). If you're terminal, don't sweat it because you've got about a 95% overall chance of passing.

Tip Three: Have fun on the weekends, get together with your class (man, we did Sky Bar one too many times) but keep it within check - $8 bucks an hour pretax goes by quick.

Tip Four: Keep your head up - it's a roller coaster at times but you'll make it through.

good luck man, just wondering how they let you know that you were going? e-mail? phone? I tested the same time as you, and was offered ACK, just waiting on my background check I guess.

They should notify you by phone and send the final offer in the mail about a week later. I am waiting on the packet from the academy now.

Great advice!! I will definitely look into the insurance. Were you hired OTS?
