They say the interview is like any other job interview. Some of the questions asked were:

Tell me about a time you were part of a team that a) succeeded
b) failed
Why would you make a good controller?
Why are you a better candidate than anyone else?
Describe a time you were given a position of responsibility.
Describe a time you were under a lot of pressure & how you dealt with it.

I'm still waiting on an interview as well..................

ZEKE,

I haven't heard anything about an interview yet. It's says the same "you may or may not be contacted for an interview" on the referral list.

I am in Utah. Should I expect to fly out to Michigan for a sit down interview? If so, will they foot the bill (please say yes)?
Anyone a Controller in Michigan?

I applied for a bunch of positions in Ca and the place they interviewed me was about 15 miles from my house..and probably about the same distance from the tower I got a tentative offer for..So I don't know if they interview you near your home or the place they want to put you..that wasn't much help..sorry.

Hey I have also been put on the list for Michigan. My dad is FAA and most of the time throughout my childhood I remember ALL phone interviews. So I am anticipating a phone interview unless you are close enough to have an actual interview.

What was your top choice city in MI?

I'm in the process of being hired in anchorage. My interview was at LAX, because it is close to where I live. You will have to pay expenses to travel there. Always know that YOU will be footing the bill for pretty much everything except for the medical.

As for the interview,

It will take about an hour or two to complete. They ask a whole bunch of "why should we choose you over someone else" questions. It is designed for them to figure out what you are really all about. Your examiner will write a report when you are done and submit it to your hiring contact.

All I can say is, be yourself. Answer the questions truthfully and as fully as possible. If you "try" to answer the questions as you think they want you to the examiner will see right thru you.

My interview experience was great. We talked for an hour or so, he asked all the questions that he had to (it's out of a book) and then we toured the tower ( hehehe)

Good Luck!! You are now one step closer

I chose Lansing(1), Grand Rapids(2), Kalamazoo(3), Pontiac(4), Willow Run(5), Traverse City(6). Wrote "No" in both Detroit Tower and Tracon.

I'm going after Iowa now. I won't deny a postition up front because "you can deny it down the road and it counts as the same thing" -FAA Careers Division.

Beehive----

We must be on the same track because I just got Iowa added to me as well. I am also not turning anything down at this point. I guess it is a race to see who interviews first and makes and offer.

This is great! It looks like some, if not all, of us OTS hopefuls will be in OKC soon.
What are your top choice cities in Michigan and Iowa?
I chose Grand Rapids(1), Des Moines(2), Sioux City(3), Waterloo(4) and Sioux Falls(5). I think Sioux Falls is in South Dakota but it is on my Iowa papers. I would be happy with any of these facilities.

This does sound pretty promising. I have been told by lots of people try to avoid Detroit if you can and stay as far west in the state of MI as you can. I am just ready to hear something and get this moving. What do some of you guys do now? Myself I am in something completely different I am a Mortgage person right now and in the market we are in I am losing money hadn over fist so I am ready for the stability and challenge of this position. As far as my selections......
Michigan: 1) Grand Rapids 2) Ypsilanti 3) Kalamazoo 4) Muskegon 5) Traverse City 6) Lansing 7) Pontiac 8) Saginaw 9) Ann Arbor 10) Flint 11) D21 12) DTW

Iowa: 1) Cedar Rapids 2) Des Moines 3) Waterloo 4) Sioux Falls 5) Sioux City
I would be happy with any of these as well.

I guess we will see the MI closes today and the IA closes Monday. Good Luck to you all maybe if we all end up in OKC at the same time we can grab a beer.

cool sounds good! luv to drink , but no drunk well just some weekends lol. i hope we all meet each other soon, and get this show on the road, lol been waiting to damn long...

Michigan 1. Ann Arbor, 2. Capital city Lansing, 3. and 4. Detroit wouldn't live there but i heard that the money is good because they are complex facility"s i would just commute back and forth. 5. Kalamazoo 6. Muskegon

i still would like to finish school so i think ann arbor would be a good choice for me and Detroit both city's have good university. i feel that i am too far into school just to quit now....

I don't think I could go to school while being an ATCS. That's cool you want to educate yourself more than what is necessary for your career.
What is your preference sheet look like for beer? Utah has some mucho bueno micro-breweries out here(Uintah, Squatters, Wasatch), yeah I know, UTAH!. I enjoy any kind of dark beer, domestic or foreign.
