| ATC Physical? I am getting a little ahead of myself but was wondering if anyone knows what the ATC physical entails?
Is it similar to a 1st Class Medical?
Vision and hearing seems to be pretty obvious but what else? |

| Re: ATC Physical? IIRC it is the same thing as a Class I physical. Read FAR 67 for what that entails.

| Re: ATC Physical? There are a few differences, the thing to note is that the INITIAL ATC medical is more strict than the subsequent physicals.
- The hearing test is done with a machine and a headset. ie - raise your right hand when you hear the beep in your right ear...etc.
- You are given an EKG - due to my age I'd never had one of those for my first class pilot medicals.
- Color vision is the Dvorine - no exceptions on this initial ATC medical. (they are currently making changes in this area)
Other than that, no biggy. Was in and out in about 30 minutes. |

| Re: ATC Physical? From what I remember the pre hire physical was pretty involved. After that we (ATC's) basically hold a class II medical. I have a few flight ratings so when I go I ask for a pilot medical certificate as well... that involves another vision test, that's it. |

| Re: ATC Physical? Got word that I am going to get interviewed. I am worried about the physical though. Do they do depth perception test. And if so, is it the test where you pick out circles.
I am also worried about my driving record. In the past eight years I had a speeding ticket and I also did not show up for court for a seatbelt/registration ticket two years ago. I also got a few tickets 9 and 10 years ago. Does anyone know how all of that will effect the chances of me getting hired. I know that they are pretty strict about that stuff.
Any response will be greatly appreciated I am very worried about it. |

| Re: ATC Physical? When i had mine this is what the physical included:
Filling out a questionnaire, blood pressure and pulse, height and weight, urine sample, hearing, vision and depth perception, ekg, the doctor looked in my eyes and mouth..maybe ears too, checked for a hernia and listened to my breathing with a stethoscope..it was pretty quick. |

| Re: ATC Physical? hewette,
Did you take the AT-SAT in Vegas on 12/3/07?
I took my AT-SAT in Vegas on that date for Connecticut. Since then I have been put on Michigan, Iowa, Alabama and Ole Miss referral list. What a loop that threw me through!
If you have warrants or any pendings than they would probably hold out on you. If you do, take care of them asap.
Good luck with everything! |

| Re: ATC Physical? Yes I did take it in Vegas on Dec. 11th.
Everything is paid and taken care of. My situation is I got a seatbelt ticket and then did not show up for the court date. Many months ago I ended up getting what was called a traffic warrant (not a warrant for arrest).
Does anyone know if that is going to be a disqualifying factor? Any input is greatly appreciated, I am very worried about this. I feel like a felon. |
