hello all this is my first thread and i'm pretty sure others are wondering the same thing i am. First i'm 30yrs of age(apr) i applied to take the at-sat(off the street) 1 month after my b-day. I just got my results this monday (sept 17) 92%. That's already 5months!!!! I only have 7months of time left before i'm 31. My questions.. 1. how long does this process take? will i be 31 by the time they're done and not be eligible because of age limitation? 2. how long does training take at okc? 3. is it true that where you took your atsat is where you will most likely be working? 4. will they let you know your location before or after you complete training in okc? thanks in advance... |

A great resource for aspiring controllers is www.atccti.com. It is geared toward CTI students, but there is a lot of OTS stuff in the forums.

Yeah, I got the number for the non-faa side that does the testing. The guy I talked to said it would probably be October or early November before I get scheduled. I don't know why it is taking so long to schedule me...maybe they only do the testing in Houston once a year or something... Where did yall take your tests? |

Well, I started the CTI program in August of 2005, graduated CTI in December of 05 - just a few months later. (I already had a bachelors and CSEL instrument etc so most of the program requirements we're waived). Here's my timeline: August 05 - December 05' --- CTI School. waiting, waiting, waiting... May of 2006 -- AT-SAT waiting, waiting, waiting... January of 2007 -- enroute offer - Center waiting, waiting... March 2007 -- Medical, Background, Pysch test... waiting... March 30, 2007 -- Call from FAA telling me I needed to be in OKC in 3 days, yes, 3 days. "Uuuuugh, noooo, that's not gonna work" -- gave me a class date a few weeks later. June 2007 -- Graduated Enroute OKC ![]() August 2007 -- Finished drawing/memorizing my last map at my facility, then gave my resignation. ![]() ![]() ![]() Yup, you heard me right. Here's the thing, for the longest time I was looking for the smallest excuse to get away from the ATC gig, finally just said 'screw it.' I'm happy - I honestly was not excited about that job at all --- for each his own. |

6-8 months in OKC? I had my interview Wednesday and the tower manager told me 3 months, and it might be less if you have a pilot's license. |
