| The airport that I fly out of goes uncontrolled from 8pm till 8am. I am sure there is a controller up there prior to 8am doing their morning routine and doing what they need to get done for them to go active at 8am. In the event that it is a few minutes prior to 8am/tower going active and a plane comes in communicating on CTAF and has a problem, will ATC help? Basically what I am asking is if you are flying into a field that is still uncontrolled and run into a problem such as a rough running engine, etc. will tower go active earlier to help you out or be of assistance? I understand that there is not a whole lot they can do considering they are on the ground, but whether it is something such as rolling the trucks or clearing the airspace for a straight in, will they go active early? Obviously there are frequencies that can help you out in other situations, but I am talking about problems starting minutes before landing and the tower not yet controlled. I'm curious if there is anything regulating tower from helping you out if they are not active. Thanks.

| Good question. I can't imagine a controller sitting on his hands until 8am cause he's not on the clock yet.

| Wouldn't you go to 121.5? I would do that before transmitting on a CTAF? |

I'm not going to want to fly into an uncontrolled pattern being on a different frequency.
