| Yes, I went through the "off the street" method. No CTI, no MARC, no military ATC experience. 1988 Worked fine for 18 years. |

| Newbie | Hey just a fair warning you will see nothing in the referral list.. It will show up on the front page weither you were eligable for that position or not.. Dont be down if it says you werent I had about 3 say I wasnt eligable then the southern florida one popped up and said we will contact you in three weeks.. Oh, Another thing once you see that your going to be contacted for a test date.. Bob O'losky (sp), the guy running the testing for Robinson Aviation, He said they are extremely behind he hasnt recieved any applications from the faa since 5/15/07 so they are two months behind but he said when it comes down to it I will be calling all of the accepted applicants personally for a test date/test location so just be patient.. |

But if you have some good information please provide .. Id be interested in seeing what you have to say.. Thanks |

| Where I work there is a couple of the new hires that were hired through ATSAT off the street. Most have zero aviation knowledge and walking into a level 12 center they have had their work cut out for them. Since you are on this board I assume that you have aviation knowledge. That is the advantage that CTI's and VRA's have. Either prior ATC through the military or at least some aviation knowledge. Walking into a ATC facility understanding the system, airways, VOR's, A/C types and performance is a huge advantage, it lets you focus on the nuts and bolts of ATC. |

| I have made it through the proccess, recieved a tentative, and cleared all checks. They have informed me of the date I should start for En Route Initial training, but are waiting for the Air Traffic Basics' class schedule to be finalized to give me a final offer.

| I hope I don't offend anyone here too much...but why does the CTI 4-year of college thing even exist if the FAA is just going to hire people off the street as well? What a way to backstab everyone involved in the CTI programs. Disregarding experience seems like a good way for the FAA to marginalize the entire profession... it just doesn't seem right. What are your opinions on this? -Relative of CTI student |

| I don't know what the FAA is doing about CTI students but i'm sure recent graduates are getting first stab at locations and facilities. I'm OTS with no aviation experience and I have received a couple offers from northern states. With that said, I believe more qualified applicants are getting offers from the warmer parts of the nation which are probably the applicants first or only geographical preference. |

| I have spent all my life in Utah. I love the summer and the winter is a welcomed change. No bugs to deal with! It is 15 degrees right now(21:45)! In the summer, high 90's and 100 degree temps are not abnormal. |
