Default Off The street Hire - AT-SAT Questions

I applied for a job in florida using the OTS program using ASAP and was accepted to take the ATSAT.. Says I will be contacted in a few weeks to take the test.. Does anyone have any clue of how long to expect to wait until I am contacted(realizing the fact that Faa/Gov hireprocess is as fast as a turtle)?

For anyone interested in this method its easy you only have to have 3 years of work experience then you can apply on ASAP through faa.gov. You can only apply for the FG-1 grade positions but at least it gets your foot in the door!

Another thing is I have purchased a book as a career prep for the ATSAT with software of a pretest which is very glitchy does anyone have any advice on studying for this test? Thanks

2-3 weeks is the usual wait right now.

Also check www.atccti.com

While directed towards CTI students, I'm sure some would be happy to help you with any questions in regards to the process. While some, may be pretty damn bitter that they spent 50-80k on their education, and now the FAA wants to treat them (us) like red headed step children.

Good luck.

Thank you for the quick response.. I totally agree with you that students who dedicate there 50-80k on their education is basically stomped on and said who cares..

For me its just a great oppertunity to do something I have always wanted to do with a passion.

Do you have any suggestions on studying for this test for me? Thanks

For the bumblers that run the agency, they're counting on your enthusiasm to sign up.... seems their hiring plan hasn't been going so well to date.

Make sure you have a plan B, for if / when you decide this isn't for you (or you wash out, or they fire you on day 364 of your one year probation).

Just spoke with the FAA today. The lady i spoke with informed me that they might call you the day before the test to let you know or they might let you know two weeks in advance or something like that.

Calling the FAA does no good because an outside company handles the testing for them. The FAA does not contact you to take the test. The outside company contacts you.

Hi,

Had you already taken the test? I had some applications that closed on the 6/15 date and got the message that I would be contacted within a few weeks to schedule the test. Still have not heard anything, I did call some of the numbers I was given, but nobody has any answers. What steps did you have to go through to get to the interview? And what kind of timeframe did you go through?

Thanks,

Jason

My closing date was 6/15 as well and still haven't heard anything. The aviation careers division hasn't really had any answers for me and i've talked to them about 5 times. Yesterday they told me that i should be contacted real soon to take the test.

Jason,
The closing date for my app was 4/2. I took the test on 6/4 and received the results by 6/8 on the ASAP application. Up until last week I had'nt heard anything from them until I got the email that I stated above. The latest update I have from them is that in a few weeks they will contact me to schedule the interview. A buddy of mine got the test authorization but still has not rcvd a test date this is over month ago too. its the government historically they have moved slow.

Any questions PM me.
