| I guess I will be the unpopular one. Take not tower guys/gals, us pilots do not want you looking out for us, blindly do things and pay no regard to the fact we MAY not be configured for landing (gear down) and let us belly land the airplane since questioning someone or being proactive on a situation may bruise someones ego. Geeeesh, come on people, there was a miscomm somewhere and the tower didn't realize what was going on and did what she though was in the best interest of safety at the moment, after realizing there was no issue and no need to further delay Lloyd she cleared him to land. If the cancelled clearance and subsequent reclearance to land was such a threat to safety Lloyd should have gone around himself.

| I agree a controller shouldn't critique or be a critic BUT that wasn't the case here. A controller was on her toes, noticed an airplane close to landing without the gear down. Granted what she did wasn't the "by the book way" but if Lloyd was as close to the ground and runway as he makes it seem, I think the cancelled landing clearance was the better option than "check gear down".

| I see what you're saying - and if the controller had said, "FLX305, confirm gear down?", then I'd have absolutely no problem. However, the super giving me his little speech - well, that was over the line.

| The super, yup over the line, you showed more restraint than I would have. But also keep in mind, he doesn't know you, doesn't know your comfort level with the airplane and he most likely jumped to the conclusion that you were some rooky hot shot that simply forgot to put the gear down. Not exactly the best way to approach the situation, but not the worst either. Me, I tend to put the gear down too far out, I'm paid by the minute, why not.

| Junior Member | I don't know how many times that I have had to go around when I was TDY to TPA because I was going 30 knots faster than the A320 that was ahead of me on an intersecting runway. It was always the Citrus gang. But I know the Mil tower are required to ask about the gear, I just cannot believe that a Civ tower would lecture like that. All though, some ATC controllers think that they are god, ATC at CPS (For those who know).
